ARKANSAS - Last minute travel specials to Fayetteville, Little Rock, and Texarcana
Little Rock will probably be remembered by many as the capital of President Clinton's home state. Yet, before this "claim to fame", Little Rock attracted visitors to its wonderful setting on the banks of the Arkansas River, surrounded by the Quachita Mountains.

The city boasts over 50 parks and is only a short drive from Hot Springs National Park, renowned for its hot mineral springs. With an abundance of lakes and the River, the Little Rock area is a water sports paradise. It's easy to see why Arkansas is called "The Natural State".

When at last you pull yourself away from all the natural beauty, you will find a wonderful variety of activities within Little Rock. As the state capital, Little Rock is a cultural center with a variety of theatres, museums, galleries and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.

Children will discover a host of activities including the Children's Museum, Little Rock Zoo, Museum of Science and History, The Aerospace Education Center and an appealing historic area. This includes The Quapaw Quarter, The Arkkansas Territorial Restoration Center, Old Mill and Old State House. Just a short drive from downtown you will find the State Fairgrounds, where you can easily spend a full day of fun.

The River Market District is fast gaining a reputation as a target destination. A lively array of people gather for a variety of entertaining things to do, from the library to the Science and History museum to a multi-purpose arena.

Whether a single adventurer or couples, groups or the whole family, travelers are discovering that Little Rock is truly a place for a memorable vacation.

Arkansas
It may be surprising to some people that Arkansas has seen a sharp rise in tourism... but not to the people that call her home! The state is roughly divided up into six highly distinctive regions.

The Ozarks comprise the northern area. In the Ozark Mountains, the White River is Internationally famous for its beauty and great trout fishing, and several resorts and full-service marinas are available. Bull Shoals Lake, with more than 45,000 surface acres of water and a 1,000-mile shoreline, is a popular destination for those interested in fishing, water sports or just relaxation.

The Arkansas River valley sits south of the Ozarks, and cuts through the state interspersed with large lakes where dams have been erected. The Ouachitas region boasts a diamond mine where you can pan for rough diamonds and turn of the century bath houses and spas at Hot Springs.

In Central Arkansas, Little Rock and North Little Rock form the vibrant heart of the state. The Delta Plain nestles against the mighty Misssissippi river, and harkens back to the days of the Old South.

And finally, the abundant natural resources of the Timberlands area are still attracting people today as they did in the pioneer era. Each year, thousands of sportsmen descend upon Southern Arkansas to hunt deer in what is considered the best deer hunting region in the state. They also come in search of the lunker bass that reside in the area's legendary lakes and rivers.
